Code of Conduct

GFN exists to give real football fans a place to talk about the game they care about. That’s the whole point of the platform, and it’s the only thing we’re here to do.

We strive to serve the fans and the sport they’re most passionate about. That’s why we work to keep our commentary from veering into politics, religion, or controversy that isn’t directly related to football or our sport coverage. We’ve had moments where conversations drifted into that territory, and it cost us something we don’t want to lose again: a space fans of any background can share without feeling like it’s someone else’s argument. That experience is why we hold this line now, and why we ask everyone who posts here, from fans to hosts to partners, to hold it too.

This isn’t about limiting passion. Disagree, argue, get worked up about a result: that’s what makes football conversation worth having. It’s about keeping the argument about football.

To that end, everyone contributing to GFN is expected to meet these standards:

1.⁠ ⁠Don’t make false or defamatory statements about others.

2.⁠ ⁠Don’t threaten, harass, or encourage harm, violence, or discrimination against anyone, on any basis, including race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, religion, age, or disability.

3.⁠ ⁠Don’t target anyone for sustained harassment, and don’t share private information about someone without their consent.

4.⁠ ⁠Keep the temperature manageable. Disagreement is fine. If a discussion has become too heated to be constructive, step back rather than escalate it.

5.⁠ ⁠Be honest about who you are. If you’re contributing on GFN’s behalf, say so, and only people GFN has authorized speak for GFN as an organization.

We review reports of breaches and may act on them, including removing content, when we judge it necessary to keep this space usable for the community it’s built for.
